Policy Institute of Australia CEO Amy Auster has commented on the investment markets of the Australian economy, claiming that investment markets in Australia are "very strong".

“I think when we say competitiveness, certainly strength of investment is a sign of competitiveness, because you’re earning a strong return – really our investment markets in Australia are very strong and capital will look for where there is the biggest growth opportunities,” Ms Auster said.

“Our track record of investment here, the fact that we’ve had really strong inflows and a current account surplus, for quite a period of time up until recently, those are sort of indicators that actually our investments, our markets are quite strong and we are attracting capital.

“But in terms of competitiveness, where that can come through is in pricing, and that can contribute to inflation, so the competitiveness of the economy is really important.”
