Spotify Appears Insulated from Macro Turbulence -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

1422 ET - Spotify's subscription model is likely to be fairly insulated from macroeconomic uncertainty, Bank of America says. The analysts expect the audio streaming platform's results to be at least in line with guidance on key metrics including revenue because they see the subscription as similar to a utility payment. Still, recent volatility could affect future advertising growth if it puts downward pressure on ad budgets, they say. A few audio companies have noted advertising weakening already, the analysts add. Gross margins in 2025 are expected to increase, but likely won't hit the same levels as the year before, which were particularly strong. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
