Qantas Airways (ASX:QAN) Chairman John Mullen expressed concern that new enterprise agreements do not incorporate productivity benefits amid a new deal with Qantas short-haul pilots and pay increases for cabin crew, The Australian reported Wednesday.

Speaking at the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors conference, Mullen also said that geopolitics are a concerning issue as global supply chains are at risk, per the report.

According to Mullen, pay increases in the new enterprise agreement are a "real noose around our necks" as awards are made without any attempt to boost productivity, the report said.
