当地时间4月2日，美国总统特朗普宣布，美国对贸易伙伴设立10%的“最低基准关税”，并对某些贸易伙伴征收更高关税。在此之后，道指期货重挫超1000点。

美国消费者新闻与商业频道（CNBC）指出，特朗普此举增加了全球贸易战的风险，从而打击了已经摇摇欲坠的美国经济。

截至美东时间下午7时25分，与道琼斯工业平均指数挂钩的期货下跌1010点，跌幅2.38%。标普500指数和纳斯达克综合指数期货合约价格分别下跌3.44%和4.35%。

此外，据报道，跨国公司的股价在盘后交易中大幅下跌。耐克和苹果股价均下跌约7%。进口商品大型销售商的股价也受创最重，Five Below下跌15%，DollarTree下跌11%。科技股在整体避险情绪下下跌，英伟达下跌4.5%，特斯拉下跌6%。

CNBC称，可能让交易员感到不安的是，特朗普设立的关税对许多国家而言将远高于预期。交易员曾希望10%至20%的税率成为普遍适用的上限，而不是最低起点。

标普500指数当地时间4月2日连续第三天上涨，基于希望特朗普不会宣布一项严厉的关税计划，因为这可能会导致经济放缓，并推高本已居高不下的通胀。报道显示，自2月下旬以来，由于特朗普持续的关税公告造成的不确定性加剧，该指数遭受重创，已跌入回调区间。
