Sinclair (SBGI) said Wednesday that the Federal Aviation Administration has approved its declaration of compliance for operations over people.
The authorization allows the company to fly modified drones over people and moving vehicles without needing a waiver for newsgathering, it said.
Since launching its unmanned aerial systems program in 2016, Sinclair has completed over 40,000 flights across 50 newsrooms nationwide. Sinclair's drone pilots receive training at Virginia Tech's Mid-Atlantic Aviation partnership to maintain safety and operational standards, the company said.
