House Democrats open probe into FCC media investigations

WASHINGTON, March 31 (Reuters) - Three House of Representatives Democratic lawmakers on Monday opened a probe into a series of investigations launched by Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr into media outlets including CBS, NBC and ABC.

Representative Frank Pallone, the top Democrat on the Energy and Commerce Committee, said Carr, who was named as chair by President Donald Trump, had launched "sham investigations" into entities disfavored by Trump and his adviser Elon Musk and sought "to target and intimidate news organizations."

"You have weaponized the agency against news outlets," the letter said, asking Carr to turn over records related to travel with Trump and to Trump's Florida residence. ·
