StanChart Buys Back Shares; Shares Down 18%

Standard Chartered (HKG:2888) bought back 891,878 shares in London on April 3 at a volume weighted average price of around 10.3938 pounds sterling apiece, a Monday filing with the Hong Kong bourse said.

The British lender plans to cancel the shares, following which it will have 2,383,569,201 shares in issue.

Shares of the lender were down nearly 18% in recent trade.
