Contact Energy's (ASX:CEN, NZE:CEN) retail electricity sales declined in March compared with the year-earlier period, while wholesale spot electricity sales rose, according to a Monday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.
Retail mass market electricity sales fell to 246 gigawatt hours (GWh) in March from 254 GWh in the same period in 2024. Retail gas sales also fell to 35 GWh from 44.
Wholesale electricity sales to businesses fell to 256 GWh from 275 GWh. Wholesale spot electricity sales grew to 711 GWh from 685 GWh.
The company said information for March electricity demand was not available at the time of preparing the monthly report.
The company's shares rose nearly 2% in Australia in recent Monday trade, while its New Zealand shares fell about 3%.
