路透4月7日 - 美国总统特朗普周一指示美国外资审议委员会(CFIUS)重新审视日本制铁5401.T对美国钢铁公司X.N的收购提议，以帮助确定采取"进一步行动"是否适当，从而为该交易获得批准带来一线希望。
"我指示美国外国投资委员会...对（日本制铁）收购美国钢铁公司一事进行审查，以协助我决定是否应就此采取进一步行动，"备忘录中写道。
日本制铁表示对这一消息感到高兴。"我们从一开始就相信，对我们与美国钢铁公司的拟议合作关系进行客观、基于事实的审查将会表明，这种合作关系将强化美国的经济和国家安全，"该公司表示。
美国钢铁公司发言人表示，该公司期待着"继续与特朗普总统及其政府密切合作，完成这项重大而重要的投资"。
