Nordic Banks Are a Little More Sheltered From Tariffs Than Peers -- Market Talk

Dow Jones

0944 GMT - DNB Bank and Nordea may be better placed to weather any tariff-related headwinds among Nordic banks, Citi analysts write. While the Nordic banks were down 8%-13% in the final few days of last week, this is still notably better than European sector indices. "The Nordic banks generally are not as exposed to U.S. tariffs as some continental European peers, while Norway has only received a 15% tariff (versus the EU's 20%)." Banks with sizeable Danish exposure, particularly Danske Bank, were harder hit, but Citi notes that the majority of Danish 'exports' to the U.S. are already produced inside the U.S., limiting the impact of any tariffs. Pharmaceuticals, which account for a sizeable percentage of Danish exports, are so far exempt. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
