Market Chatter: Meta Platforms Plans to Debut Llama 4 AI Model in April

Meta Platforms (META) is planning to release the Llama 4 model in April but could postpone it further as the company refines its technological abilities, The Informated reported Friday, citing people close to the matter.

The people said the reason for repeated rollout delays is that Llama 4 didn't perform as well as expected on technical benchmarks and the company's concerns that it would lag behind some model features of Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI.

Meta is planning an application programming interface for businesses to enable integrating Llama in their software as part of efforts to sell the technology more effectively, the people said.

Meta Platforms didn't immediately respond to a comment request from MT Newswires.
