1409 ET - China says it will hit all U.S. goods with an additional 34% tariff starting April 10, as it retaliates against the Trump tariffs announced earlier this week. The total value of U.S. trade with China clocked in at an estimated $582.4 billion last year, data from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative shows. In 2024, the U.S. exported $143.5 billion in goods to China, down 2.9% from a year earlier; meanwhile, U.S. imports from China totaled $438.9 billion, up 2.8% from the year before. The imbalance amounted to a $295.4 trade deficit with China in 2024, representing a 5.8% increase over 2023, according to the data. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
