智通财经APP获悉，西方石油公司(OXY.US)及其子公司1PointFive周一表示，他们已获得美国环境保护局(EPA)的批准，批准从德克萨斯州的STRATOS直接空气捕集(DAC)设施中封存二氧化碳，这是首个从DAC项目中获得二氧化碳封存许可的项目。
西方石油公司表示，该许可证是根据《安全饮用水法》的地下灌注控制计划颁发的，是其计划的关键组成部分，该计划将从大气中捕获的二氧化碳安全、持久地储存在地下一英里多的地质构造中。
STRATOS旨在捕集高达50万吨/年的二氧化碳，使其成为世界上最大的DAC设施，并计划于2025年开始商业运营;该设施是西方石油公司的1PointFive部门和资产管理公司贝莱德(BLK.US)的合资企业。
西方石油公司总裁兼首席执行官Vicki Hollub表示，VI类许可证是“释放二氧化碳价值的催化剂，并推动直接空气捕获技术的发展，作为帮助企业解决排放问题或生产重要资源和燃料的解决方案。”
