Boeing's (BA) Millennium Space Systems said Monday it completed a critical design review for the Fire-control On Orbit-support-to-the-war Fighter, or FOO Fighter, in 10 months following an authorization to proceed.

The FOO Fighter program, which is being developed for the Space Development Agency, will have advanced missile defense capability by integrating fire control-quality sensors into a prototype constellation, the company said.

Completion of the critical design review means the project can move to the production stage, which comprises providing an eight-satellite constellation with a ground system in 2026, Millennium said, adding it will also perform mission operations once the satellites are in orbit.
