Patriot Battery Metals (ASX:PMT) confirmed that drilling at its Shaakichiuwaanaan project in Canada resulted in the discovery of wide high-grade cesium pegmatite, with four samples greater than 20% cesium oxide (Cs20), according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

This follows the recent discovery of multiple distinct areas of considerable cesium enrichment at the project, the filing said.

Drill results yielded 3 meters (m) at 9.4% Cs20, including 1 m at 22.4% Cs2O and 5.9 m at 11.2% Cs2O, including 1 m at 22.7% Cs2O, the filing added.

The company will now assess the potential for a cesium resource at the project, the filing added.

Patriot Battery Metals' shares surged almost 18% in recent Thursday trade.
