Economist Larry Summers stepped up his criticism of the Trump administration's actions on trade, warning a "serious financial crisis wholly induced by U.S, government tariff policy" could be looming.
Summers, who served as Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton and as director of the National Economic Council in the Obama Administration, has weighed in recently against the tariffs.
Jason Furman, another economist who also served under Obama, compared recession odds to U.S. tariffs on China:
