TEMPO.CO, Klaten - Taufiq Kurniawan, the Area Manager for Communication, Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga for the Central Java Region, announced that the distribution of fuel at gas station 44.574.29 in Wonosari, Trucuk District, Klaten Regency, Central Java, has been temporarily suspended for a comprehensive cleaning of the facility.
He also stated that Pertamina has collaborated with the Klaten Resort Police to conduct a thorough investigation and inspection of the fuel product to ensure its safety before resuming distribution to the public.
These actions follow reports circulating on social media indicating that consumers had discovered water content in Pertalite fuel after refueling at the aforementioned gas station in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at approximately 1:33 AM Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Among those affected were four car drivers and eight motorcycle riders who reported experiencing similar issues to the gas station management.
In response to these consumer reports, Pertamina and the Klaten Resort Police jointly conducted an inspection of the gas station and its fuel storage and dispensing systems.
"The gas station is taking responsibility by providing compensation to each affected consumer, which includes covering the costs of vehicle repairs and replenishing the fuel in each affected vehicle," Taufiq said on Tuesday afternoon.
He clarified that the temporary cessation of fuel distribution at the gas station is necessary to allow for a thorough cleaning process.
"We have also coordinated with the Klaten Resort Police to conduct an investigation and inspection of the fuel product until it can be declared safe for public distribution again," he added.
Taufiq further emphasized Pertamina's commitment to providing high-quality services and products to its consumers and the public, one of which is by implementing routine daily inspections at every Pertamina gas station.
"The latest inspection at this gas station was carried out on April 7, 2025, at 8:04 AM, and the results indicated that the fuel products met the quality standards for each fuel product specification," he concluded.
