Italy - Factors to watch on April 11

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Friday.

ECONOMY

A week of turbulence unleashed by U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs showed little sign of easing on Friday, with markets again tumbling and foreign leaders trying to work out how to respond to a dismantling of the world trade order.

Bank of Italy releases quarterly Economic Bulletin (1300 GMT).

DEBT

Treasury sells following BTP bonds: 3.0-3.5 billion euros 2.65% due June 15, 2028; 2.0-2.5 billion euros 3.15% due Nov. 15, 2031; 1.25-1.5 billion euros 0.95% due June 1, 2025; 1.0-1.5 billion euros 3.25% due March 1, 2038. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.

S&P Global rating agency scheduled to review its sovereign debt rating on Italy.

COMPANIES

M&A - PRADA 1913.F, VERSACE

Prada struck a $1.38 billion deal to buy smaller rival Versace from Capri Holdings CPRI.N on Thursday in a move that unites two of the biggest names in Italian fashion.

Prada is seeking to expand, having defied a slowdown in luxury demand, while Versace has been operating at a loss in the last few quarters. Owning Versace, with its bold, baroque-style prints, will bring new customers to Prada, known for its minimalist style.

(*) Hong Kong-listed shares of Prada jumped as much as 7.8% to a one-week high of HK$51.6.

STMicro STMMI.MI STMPA.PA

The Chipmaker's supervisory board on Thursday denied allegations of insider trading concerning two members of its managing board and sought to reassure the Italian government the company was committed to its investments there.

French Industry Minister Marc Ferracci said on Thursday he supported STMicroelectronics CEO Jean-Marc Chery.

AUTO SECTOR

The European Union and China have agreed to look into setting minimum prices of Chinese-made electric vehicles instead of tariffs imposed by the EU last year, a European Commission spokesperson said on Thursday. German newspaper Handelsblatt reported earlier on Thursday that negotiations had begun.

(*) A new analysis by the Center for Automotive Research has found that President Donald Trump's 25% auto tariffs imposed in early April will increase costs by about $108 billionfor automakers in the U.S. in 2025.

The study, released on Thursday by the Ann Arbor, Michigan-based organization, found Detroit automakers Ford Motor F.N, General Motors GM.N and Stellantis STLAM.MI, maker of Jeeps and Ram trucks, specifically will see increased costs of $42 billion.

The car maker said on Friday its first-quarter shipmentswere down 9% compared to last year, to an estimated 1.2 million vehicles.

In the first three months of 2025, the automaker's shipments were down 20% in North America, down 8% in the Enlarged Europe area and up 19% in South America, it said in a statement.

The ruling coalition agreed on Thursday to appoint the Head of CDP Venture Capital Agostino Scornajenchi as CEO of Snam, replacing Stefano Venier, while confirming Pierroberto Folgiero at the helm of Fincantieri and Paolo Gallo as CEO of Italgas, several papers wrote on Friday.

Citigroup said on Friday it had cut its rating to "sell" from "neutral", lowering its target price to 4.3 from 4.4 euros

DIARY

Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti attends EU Economy and Finance ministers informal meeting in Warsaw, Poland.

Naples, MED 5 meeting attended by Interior ministers from Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Spain and Malta and chaired by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi starts; ends on April 12. Expected attendees include EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner and Frontex Executive Director Hans Leijtens.

Adro (Brescia), Industry Minister Adolfo Urso attends event "Machinery and mechanics: Made in Italy innovation".
