4月7日上午，一张显示“微软停止中国区运营”的邮件截图开始流传，该邮件内容称：由于地缘政治及国际业务环境的变化，微软将调整其全球战略布局，并将于2025年4月8日起正式停止在中国区的运营；这一决定意味着我们微软项目团队的相关工作也将同步终止。

对此，微软内部人士回应称，此邮件为上海微创公司信息，文中提及的“中国区的运营”实际为微软的外包公司“上海微创软件公司”，而并非微软中国，该事件系乌龙。

公开资料显示，上海微创软件股份有限公司是一家全球数字化转型服务商。

此外，尽管微软中国没有变动，但近期与微软相关的一些项目陆续出现停止。此前，有报道称，原定运营至2025年的微软张江人工智能与物联网实验室提前进入“静默期”，2024年底已停止新项目入驻。这个实验室是微软全球设立的七家实验室之一，于2019年5月在上海张江人工智能岛正式启用。实验室最初是由张江和微软共同出资建立的，但在合同临近到期时，微软方面表示不再投入资金。近期有传言称双方合作已经终止，实验室已经关闭。
