BUZZ-Trump's stance against Nippon bid sends U.S. Steel shares plunging

** U.S. Steel's X.N shares fall 11.4% to $40 premarket

** Trump says he does not want to see U.S. Steel go to Japan

** The U.S. President had earlier ordered a fresh review on Nippon Steel's 5401.T bid for U.S. Steel to help determine if "further action" is appropriate

** At the same time, activist investor Ancora says it withdraws its nomination of director candidates at U.S. Steel

** U.S. Steel holds a trailing 12 months PE ratio of 20.99 vs. Industry median of -4.33

** According to data compiled by LSEG, 7.15% of X's float was sold short as of March 31, 2025

** 6 of 11 brokerages rate the stock "buy" or higher and 5 "hold"; their median PT is $41.5

** YTD, stock has risen 32.8% vs. 15.3% fall in the benchmark S&P 500 index .SPX
