Victoria police take over super breach investigation

Victorian Police will lead the investigation into last week’s breach of the nation’s largest superannuation funds that allowed criminals to siphon hundreds of thousands of dollars out of retiree accounts.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Wednesday said he had not discussed the issue with Labor national president Wayne Swan, who is also chairman of industry fund Cbus, which reported to regulators that it had seen some suspicious activity similar to the industry-wide breach over the weekend.
