1447 ET [Dow Jones]--Australia has the potential to become a large producer of sustainable aviation fuels, or SAF, according to IFM Investors. One of the country's biggest advantages: About half of the feedstock, including corn and fish oil, used to make such fuels world-wide come from the Asia-Pacific region, the Australian infrastructure-investment firm says. IFM also points to today's limited supply capacity, with 77 SAF refining facilities producing an estimated 502 million gallons last year, or about 0.5% of total aviation-fuel consumption. The firm, which ended December with $74.7 billion in assets, is working with agribusiness company GrainCorp and transport-fuel provider Ampol "on the establishment of an integrated renewable fuels industry in Australia," IFM says.
