Singing in English used to be thought a good thing for the prospects of Australian musicians. Certainly, AC/DC would not have sold 50 million copies worldwide of Back In Black had it been in Swahili.
But whatever brings Australian songs closer to those huge markets in the US and UK also brings songs from those markets closer to us.
