Sky Quarry (SKYQ) said Thursday it entered into a letter of intent with Southwind RAS to advance asphalt shingle recycling in Illinois as part of its expansion plans.

The companies said they will assess the feasibility of using Sky Quarry's proprietary recycling technologies at Southwind RAS facilities in the greater Chicago area.

The initiative will prioritize operational modeling, financial structures, and site assessments to create a scalable approach to shingle recycling, considering the environmental impact and mutual value creation potential, according to a statement.

Sky Quarry said the proposed partnership is expected to generate byproducts for local markets that can be repurposed for roofing, road repairs, sealants, and structural reinforcement.
