Sensata Technologies (ST) said Wednesday it experienced a ransomware incident on April 6 that encrypted certain devices within its network, leading to temporary disruptions in key operations such as shipping, receiving, and manufacturing.
Following the discovery of the incident, the company said it promptly activated its response protocols, took its network offline as part of containment measures, and initiated an investigation with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts.
While the company has implemented interim measures to allow for the restoration of certain functions, the timeline for a full restoration is not yet known, the company said. The preliminary investigation has uncovered indications that files were taken from the company's systems.
The company said it has notified law enforcement and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Shares of Sensata were down 2% in after-hours trading.
