09:52 ET -- Amazon.com wants to operate like the world's largest startup, in that it wants to solve real customer problems, hire inventive workers, bring on ambitious owners and emphasize speed, CEO Andy Jassy says in a letter to shareholders. The ecommerce giant says it wants to be scrappy too, and willing to take risks, all with the main goal of delivering compelling results for customers, Jassy says. "It's not whether you're really good at managing up or sideways," he says. "What matters is what we actually get done for customers." (dean.seal@wsj.com)
