Molson Coors Beverage's president and chief executive, Gavin Hattersley, plans to retire by the end of 2025 after six years at the helm of the brewer.

Molson Coors on Monday said its board is launching a search for the company's next CEO, adding that it will consider internal and external candidates.

Hattersley, who became CEO in September 2019, also plans to retire from the board, the company said.

Molson Coors said its board has granted special retention awards of time-based restricted stock units to several executives to encourage the retention of its leadership team through the transition, including an award with a grant date value of about $4 million to Tracey Joubert, the company's chief financial officer.
