Toast said it has reached an agreement with Dine Brands Global to provide its restaurant payment technology to Applebee's sites across the U.S.
The developer of payment systems for restaurants on Monday said that Applebee's restaurants will also have access to Toast Go handheld and kitchen display systems, as well as management suite enterprise services for restaurant insights.
Toast didn't disclose financial details of the deal, but said Applebee's will utilize its technology to strengthen its operational flexibility, improve labor efficiency and enhance the overall guest experience.
Dine Brands Global had 1,567 Applebee's franchised restaurants as of Dec. 31, 2024, of which 1,454 were based in the U.S., according to its latest annual filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Toast ended 2024 with around 134,000 locations, representing an increase of 26% from the same period last year. This agreement represents the largest chain deal by Toast so far, DA Davidson analysts said in a research note.
"While the win of Applebee's is not necessarily meaningful to Toast's base of 134k locations, it is an additional proof point on their ability to move up to larger chains," the analysts said.
