Vale's Q1 Iron Ore Production Falls, Copper, Nickel Output Rises

Vale (VALE) on Wednesday reported Q1 iron ore production of 67.7 million metric tons, or Mt, down 4.5% from 70.8 million Mt in the same period last year.

Iron ore sales rose to 66.1 Mt, a 3.6% increase from 63.8 Mt a year prior, the company said.

Copper production amounted to 90.9 thousand tonnes, up 11% from a year ago, while nickel production totaled 43.9 thousand tonnes, also up 11% from a year ago, the company said.

Vale shares were 1.2% lower in recent trading
