April 15 - (The Insurer) - Acrisure Re, the reinsurance division of Acrisure, has appointed Roman Romeo as president and head of its Bermuda operations, the company said on Tuesday.

Romeo, who joined on April 7, is based in Bermuda and reports to Michael Cross, president of Acrisure Re North America.

He has joined from Aon, where he was CEO of Aon Reinsurance Solutions. Before joining Aon in September 2022, Romeo worked at Axis Capital, PartnerRe, Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings and XL Group.

In his new role, Romeo is responsible for the scaling of Acrisure Re’s Bermuda operations.

His appointment reflects Acrisure Re’s commitment to “expanding its footprint and deepening its influence in the Bermuda market,” according to Simon Headley, CEO of Acrisure Re.

Acrisure Re said in the statement on Tuesday that it has also hired Barry Gordon from Aon as a senior vice president within its industry loss warranties (ILW) team in Bermuda. Gordon reports to Romeo.
