Airbus expects to close on its agreement to buy some of Spirit AeroSystems by mid-year, Chief Executive Guillaume Faury said during the company's annual general meeting.
Faury said Tuesday that Airbus has a closing assumption of July 1.
He said the acquisition is a defensive move aimed at securing key work packages for its A220 and A350 planes.
Faury said Airbus intends to continue executing its turnaround plan and looking at different scenarios to create scale in the European space business.
