快科技4月15日消息，2022年，腾讯宣布投入100亿元人民币发起了"新基石研究员项目"。

该项目的初衷是希望助力更多科学家潜心研究，可以义无反顾地从事富有挑战性、又有重要科学意义的探索。

截至2024年，共有两期104位杰出科学家成为"新基石研究员"。今天第三期开始申报了，本期计划资助不超过35人。

据了解，新基石研究员项目是一项聚焦原始创新、鼓励自由探索、公益属性的新型基础研究资助项目。

项目设置数学与物质科学、生物与医学科学两个领域，并鼓励学科交叉研究。其中，数学与物质科学包含数学、物理、化学和没有立即产业化可能的理论计算机领域。

入选的科学家，实验类的每人每年将获得不超过500万元资助，理论类的每人每年将获得不超过300万元资助，且资助将持续5年，期满可以申请续期资助。
