Mercedes-Benz said Adam Chamberlain is rejoining the company as the chief executive of Mercedes-Benz USA, replacing Dimitris Psillakis after less than five years.

The German luxury-car brand on Tuesday said Chamberlain will also take on the role of head of marketing and sales in North America. He most recently was the operating chief at dealership company Lithia & Driveway, and previously was president of British luxury sports-car maker Aston Martin in the Americas region.

From 2016 to 2021, Chamberlain worked at Mercedes-Benz USA as vice president of sales and product management, helping lead the brand's retail and product strategy in the U.S. market, the company said.

"Working together with newly appointed CEO of Mercedes-Benz North America, Jason Hoff, Adam and his team will play a key role in navigating transformation and laying the groundwork for long-term success," the company said.

Psillakis will transition to senior strategic adviser to support strategies until the end of the year.

Mercedes-Benz added the leadership change reflects the company's continued commitment to innovation, customer excellence and long-term growth in the U.S.

The appointment of Chamberlain comes as Mercedes-Benz works to bolster its American credentials in recent years, including making sport-utility vehicles in Alabama that get shipped around the world.

New U.S. tariffs could cost the company $1.7 billion this year, according to brokerage Bernstein, 14% of expected operating profit. Parts account for roughly a third of the potential impact.
