Xi's Visit May Accelerate China-Malaysia Economic Collaboration -- Market Talk

0347 GMT - Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia could be a strategic opportunity to deepen economic ties amid global trade uncertainty, CGS International analysts Jeremy Goh and Edith Qian say in a note. They view Xi's visit as "timely" and could spur progress in projects like the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail, Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, Forest City, as well as cooperation in semiconductors, data centers and palm oil trade. With U.S. tariffs disrupting global trade, the CGSI analysts expect Malaysia, as Asean chair this year, to intensify diversification efforts and strengthen ties within Asean+3.
