Resilience promotes Long to chief underwriting officer

By Isha Marathe

April 14 - (The Insurer) - Cyber program manager Resilience has appointed Maria Long as chief underwriting officer, replacing Killian Brady in the role.

Long, who has over 17 years of experience in the industry, joined Resilience in December 2024 as deputy CUO. Before that, she held leadership roles at Munich Re Specialty Insurance, Allied World, Crump Life Insurance Services and The Hartford.

In her new role, Long will direct and oversee all aspects of the underwriting function for Resilience’s portfolio, reporting directly to George Kotsiopoulos, president of insurance.

"Maria’s track record and experience in cyber risk are difficult to match. She has quickly become an invaluable asset to our organization, earning strong trust from our capacity partners, brokers, and underwriting team - making her the clear choice for chief underwriting officer," Kotsiopoulos said.

"Her impressive track record in establishing effective cyber risk programs, combined with her excellent risk selection judgment, gives us great confidence she'll maintain our industry-leading growth and performance."

Long has replaced Brady, who left the CUO position at Resilience after eight months at the company in February. Cyber Risk Insurer was first to report that Brady resigned to join Old Republic's new cyber venture.
