Hong Kong Shares Open Lower; Tech, Auto Stocks Weigh -- Market Talk

0141 GMT - Hong Kong shares open lower, weighed by tech and auto stocks. Investors are watching for any updates from U.S. or China with regard to their trade policies. Meituan leads the losers with a 5.0% loss. Geely Automobile is down 3.8% and Kuaishou Technology drops 3.6%. Alibaba Group is 3.3% lower. Meanwhile, semiconductor stocks lead gains with SMIC up 1.8%. Chinese property stocks gain after news the country's March home prices were largely stable.China Overseas Land & Investment is up 1.5% and Sun Hung Kai Properties rises 1.4%. The benchmark Hang Seng Index falls 1.0% to 21256.02 and the Hang Seng Tech Index is 2.5% lower.(jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
