SINGAPORE: Social entrepreneur Cai Yinzhou was among the new faces spotted in a video posted on Facebook by the People's Action Party (PAP) and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Wednesday (Apr 16).

Mr Cai also put up a picture of himself on his Facebook page, wearing the PAP badge. "Responding to PM Lawrence Wong's call for young people to serve. Here I am, Singapore," he wrote.

Mr Cai's post - with the hashtag #GE2025 - went up shortly after the PAP and Mr Wong posted the video. Both posts contained the hashtag #PAP4SG.

In response to CNA's queries, Mr Cai said he hoped to be fielded as a candidate for the General Election and that he has been volunteering with the PAP since 2018.

Mr Cai is a long-time Geylang resident who founded Geylang Adventures, which organises tours around the neighbourhood.

According to his LinkedIn page, he is also the executive director of the Chinatown Heritage Centre.

Besides Mr Cai, other people featured in the video on Mr Wong and PAP's pages are former army chief David Neo and Assistant Professor Charlene Chen, who are part of the party's slate in Tampines GRC.

Former Nominated Member of Parliament Syed Harun Alhabsyi, Mr Jackson Lam and Ms Lee Hui Ying were also spotted in the video. All three have been seen at events in Nee Soon Group Representation Constituency (GRC).

Dr Syed Harun, a consultant psychiatrist, told CNA last Friday that he is a potential candidate. Mr Jackson Lam is the former PAP branch chairman in Hougang, while Ms Lee is a grassroots volunteer and civil servant.

Another new face seen in the video is Mr Gabriel Lam, who was previously introduced by Health Minister Ong Ye Kung as a new face in Sembawang GRC. He is the chief operating officer of moving company Shalom International Movers.

Shipping lawyer Gho Sze Kee was also in the video. She has been actively involved in community events alongside former Mountbatten MP Lim Biow Chuan, and was spotted earlier this month at an event in Marine Parade GRC.

Former PAP candidate for Aljunied GRC Victor Lye was featured in the video. Last Sunday, he was in Ang Mo Kio GRC with Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Mr Lee Hong Chuang, who has been PAP's longtime representative in Hougang Single Member Constituency (SMC), was also in the video. It was announced on Monday that he would be part of PAP's Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC team in the upcoming election.

Mr Cai's introduction by the PAP comes after lawyer Kawal Pal Singh on Wednesday said he would not be contesting in the upcoming election, citing his desire to focus on work-life balance.

Mr Singh had previously been spotted with the PAP team during a walkabout in Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC).

The 41-year-old, who is the nephew of former PAP MP Inderjit Singh, said he would continue to support the party in "other meaningful ways".
