Redwire (RDW) said Tuesday its Belgian unit Redwire Space has been awarded a contract by Thales Alenia Space to provide four docking mechanisms for the European Space Agency's habitation module at the lunar space station Gateway.

Prime contractor Thales Alenia Space is a joint venture between Thales with a 67% stake and Leonardo with a 33% stake, Redwire said.

The habitation module will provide living quarters, lab space, as well as mission support infrastructure to allow astronauts to conduct long-term missions in deep space, Redwire said.

Redwire shares were rising past 10% in recent trading.
