Market Chatter: BlueScope Flags AU$180 Million in Urgent Repairs for Whyalla Steelworks

BlueScope Steel (ASX:BSL), acting as a technical adviser, told administrators of the Whyalla steelworks, KordaMentha, that about AU$180 million in urgent repairs and maintenance is needed to keep the plant operational, according to a Monday report by the Australian Financial Review, citing the steel company.

KordaMentha has received early interest from around 12 parties for the sale of Whyalla, including BlueScope and Greensteel Australia, per the report.

Whyalla's administrators did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
