Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) is not discussing a possible joint venture with other firms, Chief Executive Officer C. C. Wei said on a conference call Thursday.
The chipmaker "is not engaged in any discussion with other companies regarding any joint venture technology licensing or technology transfer and sharing," Wei said, according to a FactSet transcript.
The CEO said the company remains focused on the fundamentals of its business amid the uncertainties from the potential impact of tariff policies.
Bloomberg reported Thursday that Wei didn't directly address on the call The Information's April report that Taiwan Semiconductor and Intel (INTC) had entered an initial agreement to form a joint venture to operate Intel's chip plants.
TSM shares were over 2% higher in recent premarket activity.
