Target (TGT) Chief Executive Brian Cornell will meet with US civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton this week in New York after the company faced boycott calls over its decision to roll back diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, CNBC reported Thursday, citing Sharpton.
"If an election determines your commitment to fairness then fine, you have a right to withdraw from us, but then we have a right to withdraw from you," Sharpton was quoted as saying.
Foot traffic at Target stores decreased after the company announced in late January that it would end its DEI efforts in corporate operations, the report said.
Target did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
