Newmont (ASX:NEM) finalized the sale of its Akyem mine in Ghana and Porcupine operation in Canada, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.
The two sales generated about AU$850 million in after-tax cash proceeds, the filing said.
As part of the Porcupine deal, Newmont received 119.7 million shares in precious metals firm Discovery Silver, giving it a 15% stake, the filing added.
The company said it may adjust its holding based on market conditions.
