Nishi-Nippon Railroad (TYO:9031) will absorb its wholly owned subsidiary Nishitetsu Kanko Bus in a simplified merger, effective April 1, 2026, according to a Thursday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The move aims to secure drivers and improve operational flexibility amid rising tourism demand.
Operations in Kitakyushu will be transferred to another unit, Nishitetsu Bus Kitakyushu, through a split. No new shares will be issued.
