Market Chatter: European Commission President Asks X, Meta, TikTok to Comply With EU Digital Rulebook

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told Politico that companies like X, Meta (META), Apple (AAPL) and TikTok should know the EU is ready to enforce its digital rules no matter who is in charge of these firms or where they're located.

"The rules voted by our co-legislators must be enforced," von der Leyen told Politico. "That's why we've opened cases against TikTok, X, Apple, Meta just to name a few. We apply the rules fairly, proportionally, and without bias. We don't care where a company's from and who's running it. We care about protecting people."

Politico reported that US Vice President JD Vance has criticized EU rules like the Digital Services Act, which targets content, or the bloc's AI Act.

X, Meta, Apple and TikTok didn't immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
