Jindalee Lithium (ASX:JLL) said its McDermitt lithium project in Oregon was designated as a transparency project under the US Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act permitting framework, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.

The framework improves coordination, predictability, and transparency of federal permitting for projects of national strategic importance. Transparency projects are expected to benefit from increased visibility and coordination between federal and state agencies.

Jindalee's US strategy is focused on securing government support and introducing strategic partners to the project. It is working on a grant application to the US Department of Defense to potentially co-fund a feasibility study for the project.

It also appointed advisors and began engagement with potential strategic and funding partners following completion of the pre-feasibility study.

Its shares jumped 16% in recent trading on Tuesday.
