Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Android TV unit has been cleared by antitrust regulators to continue sales in India, with the Competition Commission of India Monday accepting the company's settlement proposal to offer a standalone license for Android televisions through its Play Store platform.

Under terms of the settlement agreement first proposed last year, Google will allow original equipment manufacturers to license and sell compatible Android-based smart TVs without also having to preload other Google services such as YouTube.

Google also will pay a monetary penalty of 20.24 crore Indian rupees ($2.4 million).

Alphabet shares were falling more than 2% in recent Monday trading.
