芝加哥联邦储备银行行长奥斯坦・古尔斯比周日表示，他希望美国不会陷入一种央行独立于政治压力制定货币政策的能力受到质疑的境地。

　　在哥伦比亚广播公司（CBS）的《面对国家》节目中，当被问及唐纳德・特朗普总统上周对美联储主席杰罗姆・鲍威尔的抨击时，古尔斯比回应称，经济学家们一致认为，那些能够在不受政治干预的情况下实施货币政策的央行，能让本国经济取得更好的成果。

　　然而，对于那些没有这种自由的央行来说，“通货膨胀率会更高，经济增长会更缓慢，就业市场也会更糟糕。

　　“我强烈希望我们不会让自己陷入货币独立性受到质疑的境地，因为那会损害美联储的信誉，” 他说道。
