Eni (E) reported Q1 earnings Thursday of 0.36 euros ($0.41), down from 0.37 euros a year earlier.
Three analysts polled by FactSet expected 0.38 euros per share.
Sales from operations for the quarter ended March 31 were 22.57 billion euros, down from 22.94 billion euros a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected 22.85 billion euros.
The Italian oil major also said it continues to expect 2025 oil and gas production of 1.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, assuming a full-year Brent price of $65 a barrel. It expects annual net capital expenditures of below 6 billion, down from a prior view of 6.5 billion to 7 billion euros.
Shares were up 1.8% in recent trading.
