Uber Technologies (UBER) and Volkswagen Group of America's autonomous mobility unit Volkswagen ADMT said Thursday they've formed a strategic partnership to deploy thousands of electric and autonomous ID. Buzz AD vehicles in several US markets over the next decade.
Financial details of the partnership weren't provided.
Testing of the autonomous vehicles will start late this year and the first commercial launch on Uber's platform is expected in Los Angeles next year, the companies said.
There will be human operators onboard during the initial testing and launch phases, the companies added.
