STMicroelectronics' Gross Margin Weakness Is Worse Than Expected -- Market Talk

0611 GMT - STMicroelectronics' gross margin for the first quarter and its projection for the second quarter are lower than anticipated, Citi analysts write in a note to clients. The European chip maker reported a gross margin of 33.4% for the first quarter, below Citi's forecast of 33.8% and Visible Alpha consensus of 33.8%. Meanwhile, the company is also forecasting a gross margin of about 33.4% for the second quarter, below Citi's estimate of 35.2% and Visible Alpha consensus of 34.6%. (mauro.orru@wsj.com)
